Analog Devices has released the ADXL32x family of MEMS accelerometers. They are available with two measurement axes in a package that is 4mm x 4mm x 1.45mm. They are claimed to be the smallest accelerometer form factor available today.

Finger phone
A Japanese engineer has invented a wrist watch cell phone called “Whisper”, where the user places her finger in her ear canal to hear, and speaks into a microphone on the wrist band.

LMS International have released a 4 channel analyzer called Pimento. The system is expandable up to 24 channels.

Motorola’s wireless sensors
Motorola make a range of relatively cheap sensors to measure acceleration, pressure and temperature. Motorola are part of the ZigBee consortium that is an alliance of companies that have developed low-power wireless protocols and products. See Motorola’s product range here. PCB releases miniature tri-axial accelerometer
PCB Piezotronics have released a miniature tri-axial accelerometer, model 356A01, that is contained within a 6.4mm cube. It has a measurement range of +/- 1000g peak, and a sensitivity of 5 mV/g.
